How Did You Choose Your Pharmacy School?
I started by reviewing every pharmacy program in the U.S. and gradually eliminated options based on distance, cost, duration, and requirements. I narrowed it down to seven schools, applied to all, and waited. Fortunately, I received interview invitations from each one.
I interviewed at three schools first: Shenandoah University, the University of Toledo, and the University of Charleston. All three had friendly faculty, great campuses, and reasonable costs. I hoped the admission decisions would help me finalize my choice. Soon, I was accepted into all three, making my decision even harder. To simplify things, I my remaining interviews.
What ultimately drew me to Shenandoah was the faculty. They offered me a campus tour during their winter break. Their kindness, along with an additional scholarship, sealed the deal. Why Did You Decide to Pursue a Career in Pharmacy?
I love interacting with people. Not necessarily meeting new ones daily, but building meaningful relationships. Seeing how positive interactions impact others fascinates me. Humans are complex, and forming connections is one of life’s most beautiful aspects.
In high school, I knew I wanted a healthcare career but wasn’t sure which field. My mom helped me research different options. When I explored pharmacy, I stopped searching. Who Helped You Explore Possible Career Paths?
My mom has always been my biggest supporter. When I was uncertain about my career path, she stayed by my side. She researched career options, found job opportunities, and guided me every step of the way. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her support.
What Is Your Favorite Part of Pharmacy School?
The people I’ve met. Moving to Shenandoah for graduate school as a 20-year-old from New Jersey was nerve-wracking. However, I quickly made amazing friends, both classmates and faculty, who now feel like family.
A close second would be the coursework. Although challenging at times, I find it rewarding because it’s directly applicable to my future career.
What Do You Find Most Challenging About Pharmacy School?
The coursework. The material is fascinating, but the workload can be overwhelming. It’s not just about difficulty (some courses, like BioMed II, are tough) but managing multiple subjects at once.

What Advice Would You Give to Students Interested in Pharmacy School?
Believe in yourself. If you earned grades in high school and college, you can succeed in pharmacy school. Self-doubt can be your biggest obstacle. Also, prioritize building connections. Even if you aren’t naturally social, forming professional relationships is valuable.
What Do You Wish You Had Known Before Applying to Pharmacy School?
If you want to get a head start, consider working as a pharmacy technician. This job offers hands-on experience, a paycheck, and a great reference for your application.
