Pharmacy students graduate early to assist in fighting COVID-19

A few months ago, pharmacy students pursuing their degree in universities like Rutgers, Manchester, and Purdue were scheduled to graduate in May. But then the pandemic COVID-19 hit and everything went haywire.

With the hospitals at capacity and the need for healthcare workers growing by the day, these students did something extraordinary—graduated early so they could start helping right away.

Pharmacists never get the spotlight like doctors and nurses, but their work is absolutely invaluable. They see to it that drugs are never in shortage, especially the critical ones for seriously ill patients. They also work with doctors to decide on the safest and most effective treatments.

What is really wonderful is how these students reacted to the challenge without hesitation. They didn’t wait around for the crisis to blow over—instead, they inserted themselves into the mix, eager to make a difference.

It’s encouraging to see such dedication, and we wish them luck as they assume their new roles on the front lines of this conflict.
