What Type of Pharmacist Do You Want to Be?
I want to be a non-traditional pharmacist, blending clinical skills with business knowledge to influence drug development worldwide. My goal is a career in pharma or biotech, where decisions impact millions. Right now, I’m exploring fellowships in the commercial sector.
How Did You Choose the Right Pharmacy School?
I researched a lot because pharmacy school costs a lot. I looked at alumni networks, internships, licensure pass rates, job placements, curriculum, and community involvement. I made an Excel sheet to compare. My advice: do your homework, talk to people, and pick what fits you best.
Why Are Mentors Important?
No one succeeds alone. Mentors—whether parents, professors, or friends—help guide you. For me, many people introduced me to contacts and resources. Treat everyone kindly and build genuine relationships; people are more willing to help when they feel valued.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Pharmacy School?
The journey is the best part. People often focus only on the goal but forget to enjoy the process. Pharmacy school exposes you to different cultures and ideas, helping you grow personally and professionally. You also learn a lot about yourself.

Mercer’s curriculum encourages teamwork through projects and discussions. Outside school, there are local to international opportunities to collaborate, like APhA conferences where students connect and share ideas. Collaboration brings fresh perspectives and better learning.

Pharmacy offers many career options with one degree—community pharmacy, government, clinical work, pharma industry, and more. The curriculum builds a strong foundation useful even in law or business. Plus, pharmacists are trusted, accessible healthcare professionals practicing at the top of their license.
What Do You Do for Fun Outside of Studies?
I love traveling. I take road trips or short flights whenever I can. I’ve visited Chicago, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico during school. I also enjoy podcasts, biographies, sports, and meeting new people—all ways to keep learning.

Advice for High School Students?
Find mentors early. Talk to your counselor about pharmacy programs—they vary in length. Visit schools, chat with admissions and current students. Research pharmacy careers and prepare well for the PCAT. Most importantly, keep a positive mindset. Success starts when you take the first step—don’t be afraid to chase your dreams.
